Welcome to Holland House Surgery
May Bank Holiday Weekend
The Surgery will close on Friday 4th May at 6pm and re-open on Tuesday 8th May at 08.30am. If you need medical advice during the holiday weekend, contact the out of hours service on 0300 123 1144 or alternatively call the surgery on 01253 655350 and your call will be transferred automatically
111 For Urgent Advice
It's not a medical emergency, but you need medical help fast, dial 111.
111 is a new NHS telephone number to help make it easier for you to access local health services. If you live in, or are visiting Lancashire you can now call 111 when you need medical help fast, but it's not a 999 emergency.
You will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can best help you. That could be A&E, or another NHS Urgent Care Centre. It also be an Out of Hours doctor, a Walk-in Centre, a Community Nurse, a dentist or a late opening chemist.
You can ring the 111 number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Calls from landlines and mobiles are free. However, if you telephone Holland House Surgery between 6 pm and 8.30am and wait to be transfered to 111, there will be a re-direction charge. Should you hang up following our recorded telephone message and re-dial 111, your call will be free.

HOLLAND HOUSE PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
At Holland House, we recognise the importance of our patients' voices in improving our services. This year, we have established a patient participation group to help us improve the way we deliver our services. We have an ambitious programme of improvements planned for 2012. We would like to invite you to join us on a voluntary basis to shape the future of healthcare in Lytham. Please feel free to join the site and recommend it to other patients at the practice.
If you decide you would like to work with us, please write to me, or e-mail the surgery, stating why you think you would be a good choice to represent the patients of Holland House.
Heather Kynaston, Practice Manager, Holland House surgery, Lytham Primary Care centre, Victoria Street, Lytham FY8 FDZ.

We are looking for a select number of patients to join with practice staff for a meeting every few months. These are voluntary roles; the only reward is to help improve the healthcare of our community. I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Heather Kynaston - Practice Manager
New Computer System.
We are having a new computer system installed 23rd May 2012. It will take everyone time to get used to a new system as our current system has been in place for over 18 years. Inevitably we will be working at a slower pace and we ask that you be patient with us during this transition period. In the long term the new system will be quicker and has many advantages ove the present one.

CHANGES TO THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM:
We are making changes to our appointment system which we hope will make the best use of the services available at the practice.
When you telephone the surgery to book an appointment, the receptionist will ask you for some information. This is because the receptionist has a number of alternative types of appointments available, and will be able to offer you the most appropriate appointment to deal with your problem. For example, the most appropriate appointment may be with Wendy our Nurse Practitioner or another member of the Practice Team. It is not always necessary to see a GP. We may take your contact details and one of our Clinicians will telephone you to discuss your problem. In this way, on the occasion when you really do need to see a GP, there is more likely to be a free appointment for you. Whatever you discuss will be treated in the strictest of confidence. It will be possible to book appointments up to four weeks in advance.
It is possible to book appointments in advance to see a Doctor or a Practice Nurse.
CARDIOVASCULAR SCREENING
It is recommended that people between the ages of 50 and 74 years should be assessed for their risk of developing cardiovascular disease. We are currently inviting patients in this age group to attend an open clinic, you will have a blood pressure check and a fasting cholesterol blood test. Once the results have been analysed, you will be informed of your results, and may be invited back to discuss with one of our Practice Nurses.
NURSE PRACTITIONER
Sr Wendy Partington is a nurse prescriber and she has appointments available most mornings to deal with chest infections, ear infections, sore throats etc. You may request, or be offered, an appointment with Wendy instead of one of the Doctors.
DID NOT ATTEND;
A total of 109 appointments were wasted over the past four weeks due to patients not attending for their appointments. Please let the surgery know if you cannot attend your appointment, and we can try to offer the appointment to another patient, thankyou.
Please Note
The website is not for Clinical Problems. If you have a medical query, please contact the Doctors Surgery. The E-Mail service is not for queries relating to a medical issue. This also applies to the online prescription service, the message box is not for prescription queries. Thank you.
