Maternity Services

All the doctors are trained to provide full ante-natal care.  Antenatal care is shared with either Victoria Hospital or Sharoe Green Hospital.  The antenatal clinic is normally held on a Tuesday morning at the Lytham Surgery and a Health Visitor and midwife are in attendance.

Family Planning Services

All the doctors are able to offer confidential advice during normal surgery hours on all aspects of contraception.

Child Health Surveillance

Dr Reed & Dr Lowe provide child screening for the practice.  Clinics are held on Friday afternoons and all children receive regular assessments by both doctor and health visitor.  Children will normally be invited for assessment at eight weeks, seven to nine months, eighteen months (health visitor only) & 3 years.  Please bring your child’s record book when you attend.

An eyesight test is performed by the orthoptic clinic at 3 years.  It is important that all infants and children are protected from potentially fatal diseases and we recommend all immunisations be given.

Minor Surgery Services

All the partners are registered to undertake minor surgical procedures eg removal of lumps & cysts, joint injections etc.  Dr Lowe provides cryotherapy to freeze warts and small skin lesions.  The clinic is held once a month.  Appointments for minor surgery/cryotherapy are made after a consultation with the doctors

Test results are available Monday to Friday during office hours

For tests ordered by the practice you will normally be told how to obtain the results.  In most cases we would be able to give the result over the telephone.  Some results are better discussed or need clarification and you may be asked to see the doctor.  This does not imply there is a problem

Test Results

When telephoning for a result please call at the quieter times i.e.  late mornings and afternoons.

Results - approximate number of working days for tests ordered at the surgery:

• X-Ray - 7 days
• Blood Test - 3 days
• Urine Test - 3 days
• Biopsy - 7 days
• Smear Test - 2 weeks

For investigations ordered by a hospital doctor, please ask the hospital how they intend to give the result to you.

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

Female Contraception

All our GPs are experienced at offering contraception advice.  Please make an appointment if you wish to discuss contraception.

Coil Fitting

We will be offering a coil inserting and coil checking service at the Surgery from September 2009.

If you wish to consider this as a new method of contraception, please make an appointment with one of the GPs.  Once you have discussed this with the GP, you can then make an appointment at Reception.

If you wish to make an appointment for a coil check, please ask at Reception.

Implants

Dr Chawla offers both Coil & Implanon insertion and removal.  If interested in these methods, please make an appointment with Dr Chawla.
